The founder of Simberon, David Buck, about highlighting real environmental concerns with the Puzzler Sea Turtle Rescue, which supports charity
Meer turtle rescue is the latest game of the Canadian Indie developer Simberon. It is a heartwarming puzzle, which is almost as cute as the sea turtles you can save - not only in the game, but also in real life. The developer has pledged 10% of his profits to the Canadian Sea Turtle Network.
As enlightened players who are more and more aware of our CO2 footprint and the environment around us around us, it is always welcome to consider a game worthy. Apart from meer turtle rescue It's about much more than just charity. It is also a pleasure to play. The focus of the game is solving simple but refined puzzles on a tile base. On these ways, their small sea turtles can hatch and go to the shore so that they can be worn to the sea.
Any puzzle that you are conducting meer turtle rescue is wonderfully rewarding and offers casual and puzzle enthusiasts a perfect distraction on the go.
We recently talked to the founder of Simberon, David Buck, to learn more about the game and its emergence.
What were your inspirations for Sea Turtle Rescue?
We had previously built a game with similar mechanics as meer turtle rescue. However, we wanted to have an interesting and more convincing topic for the game. After we worked through some ideas, we decided to rescue sea turtles. This could not only have an interesting topic for the game, but also turn out a real environmental problem. At the same time, we decided to highlight more than just a problem. We decided to donate part of the gains from the game to a charity organization that would actually help sea turtles. At this point, we started our search for the Canadian Sea Turtle Network.
What aspects of the game will your opinion become new players most?
Since the game is a puzzle, we hope to release the puzzles the most attractive part of the game. We have decided that all puzzles can be solved without using tools (hammers, bombs or magnets) or in-app purchases. In fact, it is possible to solve all 244 levels of the game without using special tools and to spend without money. However, many of these solutions are very difficult to find. Therefore, we offer the tools to simplify the complex levels.
How did the Canadian Sea Turtle Network respond to the project and the game?
The Canadian Sea Turtle Network was enthusiastic about the proposal and liked the idea of a game with sea turtles. When we first contacted them, they were in a slight emergency after a hurricane had made significant damage to property by Nova Scotia. When they were back on his legs, they helped us to create press releases and advertise for the game.
Do you think that developers and the gaming community could do more for charitable purposes overall?
I think all companies should do more for charity. In our case, the link was so direct that it was a natural compound to donate for a sea turtle charity. As soon as we have decided on sea turtles, we also decided to donate for a sea turtle charity. For Simberon, the game development is only one of our sources of revenue and we are not dependent on the revenue from games. This facilitated the decision to donate a part of the profit. In general, game development is a risky undertaking that may not pay off. For most game companies, the decision would donate to a charity organization, probably falling and successful after the publication of the game, rather than in our case before.
What was the biggest learning experience when creating the game?
To make a game is fun, is challenging and frustrating at the same time. I love projects in which people can work with different skills to create something that none of them could have created alone. I found that the biggest challenge was the advertising and marketing part of the game. How do people learn from their game and how do they bring them to try it? The game market today is so saturated that it is difficult to enforce and be heard. Therefore, we have to join with professionals for marketing and advertising so that a game is successful. You could have the best game in the world, but if no one hears it, it will fail.
What would your dream project be?
We start developing a new game, which is considerably different from the meer turtle rescue. It will provide multiplayer interaction with aspects of world building in combination with warfare. Currently the ideas still put in the infancy, but we drive them forward. Hopefully you can see the results in a few years. Meer turtle rescue is now available in the [App Store - https://apps.apple.com/ng/app/sea-turtle-rescue-puzzle-game/id1456555611] and in [Google Play - https://play.google ] available for download.
