FIFA 22 is getting closer and so slowly the first information about the modes will be published. It was clearly surprised by a mode with innovations that has been treated in recent years. At least for MeinMMo author Max crafts, he could now be interesting.
Which mode is? On August 5th, new information about the career mode was announced. Who shares how FIFA veterans know in:
- Manager career
- Player career
The first variant allows players to manage a club (this year even a self-made) and has been the classic go-to-mode for me, if Ultimate Team makes no buck.
On the other hand, I have largely ignored the player's career in recent years. I played the mode from time to time, but always came to the conclusion relatively quickly: here is missing.
The mode simply did not feel like a real career. The progress system was too opaque, the progress was treated too dry. Young players were either ordered in the Startelf or awarded directly to the next club - one intermediate. Fighting about performance in the starting eleven, that did not exist somehow. This is the way to often go the promising talents in professional football.
The player career felt like a lifeless one-man simulation for years and did not change much. In the past, FIFA single player modes in the past breached a lot of life, such as in story mode "The Journey" with Alex Hunter, who started in FIFA 17 and then ended with FIFA 19. Since the solo games made really fun.
This "life" was missing me long in the player career. But in FIFA 22 is hope that the mode may be really interesting.
What's better this year?
Clear if the mode is really "good" will remain to wait. Nevertheless, the announcements at least hope that the player career in FIFA 22 feels much more alive.
The beginning shows the opportunity to be switched as a player from the bank. A small change that gives the mode directly a cargo realism and above all a realistic goal at the start of the career.
In addition, the point comes that you have to develop the trust of the trainer about different game destinations. If you can not convince if the coach calls one of the bank to turn the game - then it can also be very fast. Depending on the manager rating you get more responsibility in the team or lands just on the transfer list.
Here is also a distinction between top clubs and smaller clubs. At FC Bayern, as a newbie, you probably have a little more Ackern than Shrewsbury Town in the third English league.
Incidentally, the same goes the same in the national team: Here you have to earn his place and again convince a coach. That sounds as if you had a lot of goals in front of him.
A little more roleplaying
This changes: In the outdated player career, you highly lean your player, collects XP and skill points to unlock new skills. The beautiful: The skill tree makes us play a player exactly how to do that. So I could build an absolute fit machine, which is only 3 km / h running fast, but playing with knife-carving precision to the man brings. So, theoretically.
Fakti is: Anyone who likes to handle skill trees - just as I - should have their bright pleasure at the Player Career.
The whole thing is also supplemented by a new PERK system. Up to three pieces I can unlock for my player. And there is an eternally long list of Perks. Here are a few favorites:
- Distance contactors - Increases your accuracy and strength for shots from a large distance. Grant the Finesse Shot property and the 5-star heavy foot capability.
- Clutch Finisher - Increases your weft attributes in the last 15 minutes and extension. Grants the properties Finesse Shot and Power Header and increases your weak walk's ability.
- Hot Streak - Shooting Attributes are increased for a short time (15 minutes) after you have achieved a gate. Grant the properties Finesse Shot and Power Header and increases your weak walk's ability.
- Last defender - increases your defense attributes if you are the last player in front of the gate.
The whole thing may sound a bit of arcade fun, but that does not have to be bad. On the contrary: I think so small-scale skills are great and looking forward to trying them.
Party hard in the cabin
A little more atmosphere: The last important point why the player career could become more exciting: Basically, it should go more mood in mode.
These include new Cinematics, if you wins a game, loses, properly embarrassed or a trophy can stretch up. This makes you feel (hopefully) more like a real part of the team.
The transfer negotiations should also work more lively and there are generally more reports on topics such as:
- Club records set
- Man starts in his club debut
- You convince extremely in the first season
- Man wins the golden shoe
Many other situations should be thereby. There are then - at least on the NextGen consoles - new intro-cinematics. Then you can see the warm-up, the commission of the square, the Greenkeeper and more. Especially important matches should be prepared more exciting - and if you disappoint the viewers, they simply beat early.

- 3 great innovations that want to improve FIFA 22 per clubs
- FIFA 22 brings 4 new skill moves and changes old - that awaits you
- FIFA 22: The 7 most exciting innovations in the gameplay
It may, of course, be that all these cinematics will be relatively fast repetitive. The risk exists when you take several seasons with eternally many matchdays.
But overall, the improvements act like a much needed syringe live, which lift the player career mode on a new level. I will definitely give him a chance. However, it is still a bit up to the publication. Everything about the FIFA 22 Release on the 1st of October you will learn here.
How do you see the outdated mode? Are you looking forward to seeing you or look at you other modes? Tell us in the comments!
