We had the opportunity to talk to Sami Khan, the CEO and co-founder of Cerberus Interactive, the creators of Atlas Empires, about the game and its unique features. We thank him that he has taken the time to talk to us.
Colin Mienczkowski: For those who do not know, Think can tell everyone what Atlas Empires is about?
Sami Khan: Atlas Empires is a mobile strategy game that contains the most advanced location-based augmented reality technology. The players claim a property to assert themselves on real coordinates and then make their way to build and secure the best possible basis. Players can strengthen their bases by choosing chests in the real world that can contain gold, wood, stone and other important items. Players can also collect troop characters and spells to use them in the fight against other players in the game universe.
CM: What was the inspiration for the game?
SK: We are strongly inspired by simulation and real-time strategy games on the PC. Especially games like Civilization are important inspirations where players expand an empire by a property each. We believed that this idea to take land that has been brought into the real world about today's site-related elements could create an extremely convincing title.
CM: Atlas Empires is an Ar game style. What distinguishes it most of other Ar games?
SK: First, it is one of the few local games where you can claim a property that nobody else can possess. We have mapped the entire planet and divided into stressable tiles, except streets, waterways and waters. We believe that location-related Ar games should be more than just collecting objects from an X-Y coordinate. We want our product to have the greatest possible range, and mobile is the only logical way to get there.
CM: How did the fans react according to the announcement of the game?
SK: We started to promote Atlas Empires as an idea before we wrote a single code line. As a marketer, I wanted to confirm and validate the concept. What was amazing is the Take Rate for the idea. Everyone loves it. The passion is immense. The players strive to bring their own ideas of what they want to see on the table, and it really helped to make what the game could become. If this early reaction is an example of how the gaming community will feel at Atlas Empires, I believe that this will be a title that has a permanent strength over the years.
CM: What made the most fun to make the game?
SK: The game design for Atlas Empires was extremely entertaining. Since a large part of the implementation of the game included new technologies, the idea of ideas - find out what was possible to exceed the boundaries and how it would result in a great gaming experience - really fun. We feel that we have laid a good foundation and are able to quickly iterate to optimize the game to something we believe that everyone will love to play it.
CM: When will Atlas empires be available for all?
SK: Atlas Empires will be available in most countries by summer 2020.
